The other side of the boundary: Productive interactions seen from the policy side

Abstract The literatures on productive interactions and related frameworks depict impact processes as collaborative efforts to permeate various boundaries between research societal stakeholders. However, the literature is biased towards looking at these from researcher side. This paper analyses policymakers’ with researchers different forms of boundary work that ensue, which contributes improved understanding stakeholder side interactions. Our point departure Research development (R&D) units their networks in central administration Norway. Using in-depth interviews twenty-two civil servants field welfare policy, we show how combination competitive modes makes productive. Because a strategic asset policy domain, control over knowledge production autonomy decide when follow evidence (or not) feature organisations.
